The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

I have another The Body Shop product review after my semi-recent haul. Let’s get right to it shall we?

First Impression

Smell– The mask does have a strong earthy-clay smell (the best I can describe it).
Taste– Just kidding!
Consistency– The product has a very thick consistency.
Color– In the jar the mask has a muddy brownish grey color to it, and it dries to bright grey color.
Packaging– The product is in a clear jar (as shown in the pictures), has a twist on lid, and the labels are somewhat simple. Again, simple isn’t a bad thing, I’d rather spend money on the product rather than packaging.
Price-Retail price is at $23.00, however with the deals this can be discounted.

Product Claims

The website states that this seaweed is “…harvested from the French coast”. The Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask is supposed to deep clean and detoxify while controlling excess oil. The negatively charged ions (ionic clay) are like magnets that draw out “impurities” from pores. This mask is said to be best for those with oily/combination skin.

  • Slight burning sensation
  • Difficult to remove after it dries completely
  • Strong scentย (some may not mind)
  • Dries fast (this could also be a “Pro” depending on your preference)

  • Left my face feeling smooth and fresh
  • Feltย the mask drawing out “impurities” and cleaning my skin
  • Didn’tย dry out after rinsing off
  • Did remove quite a bit of blackheads
( I look crazy, but I just wanted to show how the mask looks when applied.)

Current Opinions

I’m always skeptical of new skin care since my skin can be sensitive, and I did worry a bit when I started to feel the slight burning. However, the burning never increased and it was tolerable until the majority of the mask dried. I’m actually a big fan of how the mask smells. I did also notice it dries quickly when applying, but that’s a plus in my opinion because I get impatient with masks sometimes. Still, this may be a problem later on with the product in the jar, and I’d recommend closing it when possible.

I’m definitely loving this mask so far, and I’m glad I chose to purchase this product!

The Body Shop is currently having another “Buy 3, get 3 free” deal for those of you interested.

    1. You’re welcome! Thanks for checking out my post! ๐Ÿ™‚
I was pretty surprised that it did because I didn’t have that expectation when trying it.
Cleansing oils really help me remove them too, along with a cleanser and the Clarisonic after.

        1. Oh really? Hmm, skin is so complicated haha. I use pore strips for the pesky blackheads, and I am guilty of sometimes trying to squeeze them out after all else fails. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
