I purchased this cleansing oil as I mentioned in my The Body Shop Haul. Unfortunately, The Body Shop only has two cleansing oils to choose from (that I could find), but the “even skin tone” claim drew me to this product.
Packaging-The packaging is pretty simple, there’s nothing fancy or shiny to catch one’s attention, but personally I love the minimalistic approach and the white bottle makes me think “fresh and clean”.
The top is a basic squeeze type for dispensing the product. It can get a little messy, but nothing too bothersome (to me anyway).
Price- I love the Dermalogica’s PreCleanse which runs at about $30-35 if I remember correctly, but I wasn’t willing to dish that out at this time, so I searched for a something new to try. The retail price for this product is currently $15, but I believe I got this free because of the “buy 3 get 2 free” deal.
Ingredients– (Information from The Body Shop) “Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Emollient), PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Isohexadecane (Emollient/Solvent), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate (Surfactant – Emulsifying Agent), Water (Solvent/Diluent), Fragrance (Fragrance), Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Antioxidant), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract (Conditioning Agent, Humectant), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster).”
Product Claims– The website states that this product removes make-up (even waterproof), lifts away impurities, and will leave skin “supple and fresh”. They state that this Shiso line “…targets hyperpigmentation, improves luminosity and evens skin tone.” Also, this product is supposed to work for all skin types, and is moisturizing.
My first impression– In the past I used dermalogica’s PreCleanse, so naturally I compared this product to it. Immediately, I noticed that the consistency was much thicker, and I did have to use a little more product than before. However, I actually preferred how it felt on my face compared to the PreCleanse.
It felt like I was getting a deeper cleanse, and once I added water that oil feeling went away. After washing it all off, my face did feel impressively soft! This product left me with a great first impression!
How I currently feel about this product– Despite the fact that it’s no longer wintery-cold, after a couple of times using this product…my flaky spots FINALLY went away! Of course, I’m using other skin-care products too, but this cleansing oil has done wonders for my skin!
I have noticed that my skin looks healthier, or more supple as the claims mentioned. I used to have cracked, flacky, and what I would describe as paper thin skin. This product helped solve my skin problems way more than I would have ever imagined.
Something else I did notice…when I used this to clean my face of full-coverage make-up, my sink gave proof that this did take everything off. I can’t say it works for waterproof make-up because I have yet to try that, but I can say that I’m definitely loving this cleansing oil!
Thank you for reading this review!
